The Curved Deck Project

This deck presented a unique challange in that the one corner was to be curved based on a seven foot radius. While building the deck frame was fairly straight forward, the railing required some special care.  A form was made to match the curve and thirty strips of wood were laminated together over three days to create the two curved rail sections. The strips were glued together three at a time and required over 45 clamps at each glueing.  Each curved rail section was then carefully fed multiple time though a planer to achieve a smooth, uniform, finished product.
